“Home” may describe a page’s position on your website. It tells a potential customer almost nothing about your business.

Your page title is a small piece of writing with an important job: explain what someone will find before they click. For a Chennai business, that means making the service clear and mentioning the location when it genuinely matters.

Start with your three most useful pages. These might be your main service, a product category, and a booking page. Read each title without looking at the rest of the website. Could a stranger understand its purpose?

Consider a hypothetical tailoring business. “Our Services” gives little detail. “Blouse Alterations in Adyar | Business Name” is more useful if the page actually covers that service and location.

Google recommends descriptive, concise titles and warns against repeated keywords and identical titles across different pages. It also chooses search-result titles automatically, so your preferred wording may not always appear exactly as written. Source: Google Search Central

Give each page a distinct focus. A wedding-catering page and an office-lunch page should explain their different offerings. Avoid squeezing every service and neighbourhood into both titles.

Then check the promise against the page. If your title mentions pricing, readers should find meaningful pricing information. If it mentions a particular service area, your business should actually serve it.

Ask someone unfamiliar with your website to read the title and describe what they expect. Their answer is a quick clarity check.

Keep a record of the titles you change and the date. Over the following weeks, review relevant search clicks and enquiries without assuming every change was caused by the title alone.
